Job Ready Program Processing Times Released – May 2025
For applicants aiming to migrate to Australia via skilled visa pathways such as the subclass 189, 190, or 491, the Job Ready Program (JRP)—administered by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA)—is a key step in obtaining a full skills assessment.
TRA has recently published the latest average processing times as of May 2025. Due to the increasing number of applications, several stages of the JRP are experiencing delays. If you’re a graduate who has completed at least two years of a skills-based course in Australia, now is the time to plan ahead and familiarise yourself with the updated timelines.
Updated Processing Times (as of May 2025)
-
Program Registration: Within 45 days of online submission
-
Workplace Assessment Invitation: Within 6 months of JRP application
-
Assessment Arrangement: Referred to RTO and scheduled within 2 weeks
-
Assessment Outcome Notification: Approximately 11 weeks after the assessment
-
Document Processing: Within 14 days of receiving requested documents
-
Final Assessment: Once participation requirements are met, can apply immediately (no waiting period)
Four Key Stages of the Job Ready Program
1. JRP Registration & Eligibility
You must complete an approved Australian skills-based course and submit evidence of at least 360 hours of relevant employment or placement.
2. JRE (Job Ready Employment)
Gain on-the-job experience in Australia to further develop skills related to your nominated occupation. You’ll need to register your employer and ensure your job meets the JRP criteria.
3. JRWA (Job Ready Workplace Assessment)
An RTO (Registered Training Organisation) will conduct a site visit to assess your practical skills in the workplace.
4. JRFA (Job Ready Final Assessment)
Once the first three stages are successfully completed, you can apply for the Final Assessment to receive your full skills assessment outcome.
The JRP is a vital pathway for many trade and VET graduates in Australia to obtain a recognised skills assessment, ultimately leading to a permanent visa application. As application volumes continue to grow, so too do processing times. We recommend that applicants:
-
Prepare documentation and work records early
-
Keep in regular contact with your RTO regarding scheduling and document requests
-
Monitor your progress to avoid delays that could impact your migration timeline
