Riverwood Migration × Western Sydney University: Supporting Talent Development Every Step of the Way
At Riverwood Migration, we firmly believe that a more professional and compassionate migration law profession must begin with nurturing talent at the education stage.
That is why Riverwood Migration has partnered with Western Sydney University to establish the Riverwood Migration Award in Immigration Law, recognising the most outstanding student in LAWS 3029 Immigration Law and supporting them to take a key step forward in this field.
This year, Principal Lawyer Johnny Kong and Senior Lawyer Shirley Wang attended the Western Sydney University prize-giving ceremony to present the Riverwood Migration Award in Immigration Law.

This year, we were delighted to present the Riverwood Migration Award in Immigration Law to Alexandra Lazareska — a student who embodies both resilience and a deep passion for law.
Alexandra, of Macedonian heritage, grew up in Sydney. During the COVID-19 pandemic she balanced remote overseas study with raising her son. Despite these challenges, she remained committed to her legal studies and achieved excellent academic results. She shared:“I completed my degree while balancing parenting and study. This award is not only recognition of my efforts but also strengthens my determination to pursue a career in migration law. In studying Immigration Law, I became certain that this is a field where legal outcomes can truly change people’s lives.”
Alexandra’s journey reflects not only personal resilience but also her potential as a future migration law professional.
Why We Established This Award

The Riverwood Migration Award in Immigration Law is more than an academic prize — it represents our commitment to the future of the profession.
In an increasingly complex and evolving Australian migration landscape, society needs legal professionals who combine technical expertise with empathy and strong ethical standards.
