SA skilled migration ROI closed|16,000+ onshore applicants competing for 3,800 spots in 2024–25 program year

The South Australian Government has officially closed onshore Registration of Interest (ROI) submissions for the 2024–25 skilled migration program year. Applicants aiming to secure state nomination through SA must now await outcome notifications. Incomplete or unsubmitted ROI drafts will be automatically removed from the system. All submitted ROIs will be processed by 30 June 2025.

Massive Competition: Over 16,000 Onshore ROIs for Just 3,800 Places

This program year, SA was allocated only 3,800 nomination places, yet received over 16,000 onshore ROIs, in addition to more than 40,000 offshore Expressions of Interest (EOIs). Given the intense competition, the State Government has reiterated that invitations will be prioritised based on factors such as occupational demand and local contribution. Applicants are advised to monitor their emails for updates.

If Invited – Submit Your Nomination Application Promptly

Applicants who receive an invitation to apply for state nomination must submit a complete application within the timeframe specified. Delays may result in missed opportunities. Those who are not invited this program year can submit a new ROI in the 2025–26 program year when applications reopen.

For offshore applicants, submitting an ROI is not required. You may continue lodging an EOI through the SkillSelect system. If you meet SA’s skilled occupation list criteria, you may receive a direct invitation to apply for nomination.

Our Advice: Start Preparing for 2025–26 Now

Given the tight competition this year, Riverwood Migration recommends:

  • Onshore applicants: Review your occupation, English test scores, and other potential points-boosting factors to strengthen your position for the next ROI round.

  • Offshore applicants: Focus on matching SA’s critical skills occupation list and ensure your EOI score is competitive.

  • All applicants: Work with a registered migration advisor to ensure your documents and strategy align with the most current policy updates.

SA has historically prioritised local work experience and regional contribution in its nomination criteria. Stay up to date with SA’s official skilled occupation lists and plan your pathway early for the next cycle.
